Why is my UAB cloud.rc instance failing to start?

My UAB cloud.rc instance won’t start. Where is the issue, and how can I fix it?

There are two main reasons instances may fail to start: (1) virtual machine internal errors, (2) cloud platform errors.

VM internal errors are broadly caused. They can be caused by errors in programming or by corruption of critical operating system files, for example. We may be able to provide limited support on a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific cause. Be prepared to walk us through the steps leading up to the error.

For cloud platform errors, we will need more information from you about the specific instance to provide assistance. Please provide the instance ID and error message or error state you are seeing.

In either case, more information can be found at our Instances Failing to Start section.
