Why is it taking so long for my job to begin running?

I submitted a job and it still hasn’t started running. Usually, it doesn’t take so long for a job I submit to run. Is there something wrong with the cluster?

The cluster is working just fine, as is the workload manager – Slurm – that performs both resource management and scheduling. Jobs are queued and then run as resources become available. At some times of the year – especially at the end of a semester – there are so many people submitting jobs that there’s a longer wait time for resources to become available. Please be patient. Your job will run as soon as resources become available.
