On the URI bluewaves and andromeda clusters, the NCBI NT and NR databases are available at /data/shared/ncbi-nt and /data/shared/ncbi-nr, respectively. Note that some tools will require the file name prefix as well, so you may have to specify them as /data/shared/ncbi-nt/nt and /data/shared/ncbi-nr/nr.
These databases are updated nightly.
Also note that if you are using the SRA-toolkit to download data, it will, by default, put the downloads your home directory under ~/ncbi/. It is recommended that this be replaced with a symlink to a location under your research group’s /data directory. You could also use “vdb-config -i” to change the location for future downloads.
