Using anaconda.org to find software

Here at NAU we leverage Anaconda to assist researchers with setting up environments for python. For more information on using Anaconda at NAU, see the following article - https://ask.cyberinfrastructure.org/t/how-do-i-use-anaconda-to-install-manage-software-on-monsoon/1486

The Anaconda packages that we provide, support python2 and python3 and Anaconda.org may then be used to find software to install into a conda environment of your making.

The first time you go to Anaconda.org, you will need to sign up for a free account. The following image shows the sign-up page.

Once you have signed up for an anaconda.org account, when you point your web browser at Anaconda.org you will see a page similar to the following.

I would suggest that you create an account on anaconda.org. At the top of the page you should see an input box titled Search Anaconda.org. Enter the name of a package/program in this input box. For example, bcftools. Once you type the return/enter key or click the search button, you should see the following page.

These packages are available for installation in a conda environment on Monsoon. Please refer to the Using Anaconda link given above. If you search for software and no package exists under that name, that will be noted on the search results page.
