Users Affected: Anyone who accesses OSCAR locally via the network drive on Windows or the Finder on Macs

Description:
As of September 25 the CIFS host cifs.ccv.brown.edu will be migrating to a new host smb.ccv.brown.edu. If you connect to Oscar via CIFS we request that you to reconnect your network drives to the new host. Note that you will now need to use your Brown AD username and password to connect. Detailed instructions are available in our online documentation.

As of Friday, October 11, 2019:

1.The old CIFS host (oscarcifs.ccv.brown.edu) will no longer be available. All users will need to use the new CIFS host (smb.ccv.brown.edu).
2. Guest accounts will not have access to CIFS.
3. Class accounts will not have access to CIFS. Please plan accordingly.
4. Several Oscar service nodes (login001, login002, ssh1, ssh6, and transfer1) will be retired.

The new host smb.ccv.brown.edu is available now. We recommend users begin using the new host before Friday, October 11, 2019 to avoid interruptions to service.

If you have any issues please email support@ccv.brown.edu.
