Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a Systems Administrator II, an intermediate-level user services, applications, and support specialist to join Research Computing, a unit within UFIT. Employment with UFIT Research Computing provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated to and focused on supporting large-scale computing, data science, and AI needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational research community. UFIT Research Computing provides supercomputing support, advanced software installation and support, training, consulting, and proposal support for researchers that use HiPerGator, the University of Florida supercomputer, including HPG-AI graphics supercomputer and HPG-RV restricted data system. UFIT Research Computing is organized into five teams: DevOps, Services, Training, Architecture, and AI Support.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Install, configure, modify, and update reference data and software applications on HiPerGator.
  • Track service requests and interact with users to bring them to resolution in a timely manner. Manage Tier 1 and escalated Tier 2 service requests as needed and follows up with users and colleagues.
  • Design, develop, debug, and document user tools and administrative scripts to facilitate HiPerGator use, provide automation, increase efficiency and improve issue resolution.
  • Document applications and systems for HiPerGator users and for internal use.
  • Provide guidance and support to users in setting up workflows for optimal use of the systems.
